A Community of Young Oblates Preparing for Ministry

The Sexton community is truly an international one, with many  nationalities found among us.

We attend classes at Oblate School of Theology in  San  Antonio, Texas.

 

   

 

Fr. Mark Dean, OMI, is the Superior of the community at Sexton House.    After several years in parish work in Sweden, he returned to the United States to preach retreats in Buffalo, Minnesota, before joining the formation community in August of 2001.
 

 

 

 

Fr. Rolland Bennett, OMI, is an Associate Director of Formation.  He has served in formation in the past, as Director of Novices in Godfrey, Illinois.  Prior to coming to San antonio he was Associate Pastor at St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Riviera Beach, Florida.
 
Fr. Francis Demers, OMI, is also an Associate Director of Formation. He hails from Massachusetts and in addition to his work on the formation team, he also serves the San Antonio Archdiocese in his capacity as a Canon Lawyer.
   
Quilin Bouzi, OMI returns to Sexton House of Studies this year after completing his internship at Lukulu, Zambia. This native of Haiti is in his final year of studies in preparation for the priesthood.
   
Lucino Cruz, OMI joins our scholastic community this year as he begins his theological studies. He and his classmates (Webert Merilan and Bart Zavalette) professed first vows on August 1, 2006. Lucino comes from the Mexican State of Oaxaca.
   
Joe Dowling, OMI is a member of the Sexton House community, but is currently engaged in parish ministry in San Juan, Texas, where he has completed his internship. Joe has also completed his theological studies at Catholic theological Union of chicago and will be ordained in the coming year.
   
Porfirio Garcia, OMI. After completing his internship in Tewksbury, Massachusetts, Porfirio returns this year to continue studies in preparation for the priesthood. Porfirio is a native of Verazruz, Mexico.
   
Francisco Gómez, OMI is back in the heat of Texas after having completed his internship in International Falls, Minnesota. This native of Mexico City is completeing his theological studies and looks forward to ordination in 2007.
   
Kennedy Katongo, OMI is our newest member from the Zambian Delegation. Kenedy is in his first year of theological studies.
   

 

 

 

Ricky López, OMI is a native Texan from the oil fields of Midland.  He is currently in his second year of theological studies at OST. 
   
Webert Merilan, OMI, a native of Haiti, joins us this year as he begins his program of theological studies. He is a member of the U.S. Province and is the second member of his family to join the Oblate Congregation.
   
Emmanuel Mulenga, OMI comes to the community from the African nation of Zambia.  He is currently completing his second and final year of pre-theology philosophical studies.
 

Sydney Musonda, OMI also comes to the community from Zambia.  He and Emmanuel did their pre-novitiate in the capital city of Lusaka before coming to the United States for novitiate and philosophy studies.
   
Barnabas Simatende, OMI is in his third year in the community.  A member of the Zambian Delegation, his previous studies were in Zambia and in Cedara, South Africa.
   
Bart Zavaletta, OMI, a native of Brownsville, Texas, joins Sexton House this year as he begins his studies in theology.
