THREE NEW PRE-NOVICES

 IN BUFFALO

On Saturday, September 7th in Buffalo, New York, 3 young men pledged their commitment to spend this year in discernment with the Oblates of Mary Immaculate – is the longing they sense a call to religious life and to the Oblate priesthood?  This year of introductory philosophical and theological studies and the living of religious life in an Oblate community are designed to help them answer that question.

The commitment ceremony was incorporated into a morning Mass selected from the Marian Sacramentary – a Mass in homage to Mary, the “Temple of the Lord.”    Fr. George Kirwin OMI,  Director of the Pre-Novitiate House, presided and witnessed the commitments of the 3 new candidates.  Matt Finn, a young man completing his second year in the candidacy program, served as master of ceremonies and Eucharistic Minister for the celebration.  Parishioners in attendance at this daily parish Mass affirmed these young men and welcomed them into the larger faith community of Holy Angels Parish which hosts the Pre-Novitiate Program.

The three new candidates are:

Jovenel Alphonse who comes to us from Dorchester, Massachusetts and  is a native of Haiti

Ben Roberts hails from the Carolinas

Didier Moīse is also originally from Haiti and now comes to us from  Boston, Massachusetts

The second year candidate, Matt Finn, comes to us from Wilmington,  Massachusetts.
