Nine Candidates in Tijuana Begin New School Year

Nine pre-novices officially began their new year of discernment and studies on September 4, 2002, in Tijuana, B.C., Mexico.

The afternoon and evening of celebration began with a "fiesta" in the courtyard of the Casa Estudiantil de Mazenod.  Entertainment and food gave a joyous welcome to the numerous family and friends who were present.  Oblate "associados" from different parts of the Baja California Mission came to enjoy the day along with a good number of Oblates from both sides of the border.

Later in the afternoon, Fr. Bill Antone, OMI, Superior of the Mission, presided at a Mass in the local parish church.  During the Mass, the pre-novices committed themselves to engage fully in this new year of discernment.  They also received a small Oblate cross as a reminder of that commitment.
