The New "Flying Priest"

  
     
  A few months ago, Archbishop Roger Schwietz, OMI, Archbishop of Anchorage, Alaska, joined the ranks of other great missionaries who have taken to the skies to reach their far-flung congregations. 

Shortly after arriving in Anchorage, the archbishop saw that it would be impossible to reach the people of his vast archdiocese with an automobile...or even an SUV!  He did not consider using a dog-sled as entirely practical with his busy schedule.  Therefore, he learned to fly a plane.  Recently, he was able to obtain an airplane that will facilitate his ministry, at least at those times when it is safe to fly!
