NEW COMMUNITY LEADERSHIP IN BUFFALO, NY

In December of last year, Oblates in the Buffalo, New York District of the Northeast Area were consulted prior to the appointment of a new leadership Team.  The February, 2003, Provincial Council Meeting completed the process and designated a new District Superior and 2 Consultors.

On March 12th Fr. Bill O’Donnell, OMI, Northeast Area Superior, joined local Oblates for a Vespers Prayer Service at the end of our monthly Retreat Day. Joining us for this prayerful ceremony were the 4 young men in the Pre-Novitiate Candidacy Program.  Bill officially installed Fr. Terry O’Connell, OMI, the newly appointed Pastor of Holy Angels Church, as the new superior, succeeding Fr. George Kirwin, OMI who completed two terms in that post.  Fr. Kirwin continues in his role as Director of the Pre-Novitiate Program.

Consultors to the new Superior are Fr. Harry Winter, OMI, the pastor of St. Rose of Lima Parish in North Buffalo, and Brother Richard Coté, OMI

The festivities concluded with a reception and a celebratory steak dinner.
