FLORIDA PRE-NOVICES GRADUATE

David Muñoz and Ricardo López, Oblate pre-novices,  recently received their Bachelor of Arts Degree in Philosophy.  On May 5, they participated in commencement exercises at St. John Vianney College Seminary in Miami where they have been students for the past four years.  Archbishop John Clement Favalora of Miami presented the diplomas.  Besides the two Oblate candidates, there were 12 other graduates from various dioceses in Florida and Texas.

Both David and Ricky have been members of the Blessed Joseph Gerard Community located in Miramar, FL, for the past 4 years.  The community was established in 1999 as a place for vocational discernment and growth for candidates for Oblate life and ministry.  Fr. James Allen, OMI, is the director, assisted by Fr. Richard Sudlik, OMI.

David is a member of St. Stephen Parish in Miramar where the prenovitiate is located.  Ricky is from Midland, TX.

Both of the graduates have received their letter acceptance into the Oblate novitiate from the provincial, Fr. David Kalert, OMI.  Prior to entry into the novitiate in August, they will experience Oblate life and ministry.  David will be at the National Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows in Belleville, IL.  Ricky will travel to the La Morita mission near Tijuana, MX.
