Three Pre-Novices in Buffalo

On September 8, 2004, the Feast of the Birth of Mary, Oblates in Buffalo, NY, gathered for Evening Prayer in the Bishop Fallon Pre-novitiate chapel.  Together with Webert Merilan and Feliciano López – young men who have already had some years of vocational discernment in both Tijuana and Buffalo – the Oblates welcomed Ray Cook and pledged to support him as he committed himself to experiencing the Oblate charism and life-style during the coming academic year.

Fr. George Kirwin, OMI, the Director of the formation program, presided at the commitment ceremony and preached on the text of Luke 8/19-21.  The new assistant formator in Buffalo is Fr. Jim Erwin, OMI.

The Fallon Community is international in its makeup.  Webert is originally from Haiti, with current official residency in Mexico; Feliciano is from the state of Oaxaca in Mexico.  Ray is from the USA.

The evening’s festivities ended with a cake and ice cream extravaganza!
