Karl Davis, OMI Ordained Deacon in San Antonio

Karl Davis, an Oblate currently studying theology in San Antonio, received the Order of Deacon on January 22, 2005.  Karl was ordained by Bishop José S. Vásquez, Auxiliary Bishop of Galveston-Houston, TX, in the chapel of the Assumption Seminary in San Antonio, TX.  He was ordained along with four other seminarians:  a member of the Diocese of San Bernardino, and three members of the Dominican Province of St. Martin de Porres.

Deacon Davis is in his fourth year of theological studies at Oblate School of Theology in San Antonio, and a member of the George Sexton Scholasticate Community there.  He returned to the community in the fall after having completed a year of pastoral internship in the African country of Zambia.

He hopes to complete his work on his Master of Divinity degree in June, 2005.  The Mass of Ordination in Brooklyn, New York, in which Karl is to be ordained to the priesthood, is scheduled for August 13, 2005.  The ordaining bishop will be Most Rev. Pierre-Antoine Paulo, OMI, Co-adjutor Bishop of the Diocese of Port-de-Paix in Haiti.
