St. Stephen’s Gate is the latest book published by Father James Flavin, OMI, the pastor of Christ the King Parish in Perrine, FL. He is also author of the book This Train.
Calling upon the experience of his over 40 years in ministry, Fr. Jim focuses his writing on two principal themes: the Hispanic presence in the Church in the United States and a comparison of religious education in Protestant and Catholic parishes (Sunday School and CCD).
The title, St. Stephen’s Gate, was inspired both by the original “St. Stephen’s Gate,” the main gate in the east wall of the old city of Jerusalem, as well as by the vibrant parish life of St. Stephen’s parish in Miramar, FL, where the author worked for many years.
In the Foreword of the book, he writes: “St. Stephen’s Church in South Florida, with events and change entering its life, and with its outgoing efforts to serve the community, often reminded me of the famous St. Stephen’s Gagte in Jerusalem. It too has also been a focal point and passageway for life and history that has flowed in and out of that city.”
The book can be purchased over the internet at this address: http://www.clicknbuystore.com/. Simply follow the link to the Warehouse and then to Christian books.
