Three candidates for the United States Province have received their letters of acceptance into the Oblate novitiate from the provincial, Fr. Louie Lougen, OMI.
Webert Merilan will complete his B.A. degree at D’Youville College in Buffalo, NY, this summer after having participated in the pre-novitiate programs in both Tijuana, BC, Mexico, and at the Fallon Residence in Buffalo. Born in Haiti, Webert grew up in an Oblate parish there and has a brother (Laudy) who is an Oblate scholastic in Rome.
Lucio Cruz and Bart Zavaletta will enter the novitiate from the Blessed Joseph Gerard Community in Miramar, FL. Lucio too comes from an Oblate parish in Huamelula, Oaxaca, Mexico, and, after two years in Tijuana, transferred to Miramar to study more philosophy and acquire a greater facility in English.
Bart, a graduate of the University of Houston, comes from Brownsville, TX. He was in the Oblate affiliate program during his final year at U of H and then spent a year in Miramar, achieving the pre-theology certificate at St. John Vianney College Seminary in Miami.
The future novices will begin their year of novitiate in Godfrey, IL, in mid-August. CLICK ON THUMBNAILS TO ENLARGE |
