New Orleans Oblates Continue "in exile" |
||
|
The situation of the Oblates displaced by hurricane Katrina has changed only slightly in the past ten days or so:
1. Fr. Frank Montalbano has decided to take up permanent residency at the Madonna House for retired Oblates in San Antonio, TX..
2. Fr. Clarence Menard is in Lafayette, LA, waiting for the New Orleans seminary to re-open somewhere.
3. Frs. Mike Amesse and Tony Rigoli and Bro. Porfirio Garcia continue to work with people from New Orleans who have taken shelter in Houston. Their work is being coordinated by the New Orleans Archdiocesan Office temporarily located in Baton Rouge.
Many have inquired how they can help financially in this tragic situation. We are asking people who are interested in financial donations to help the Oblates of St. Jude Shrine help victims of the disaster to contribute through either the Oblates' Missionary Association in Belleville IL (www.oblatesusa.org; 888-330-6264) or Oblate Missions in San Antonio TX (www.oblatemissions.org; 210-736-1685).
