St. Rose of Lima Parish – Oblates end their service.

On July 15th, the Oblates transferred pastoral responsibility for St. Rose of Lima parish in North Buffalo, New York to a pastor appointed by the Diocese of Buffalo.

In the eight years of Oblate pastoral stewardship of the parish, Fr. Harry WINTER served as pastor and Frs. Tony RIGOLI and Marty WALSH successively served as associates.

It has been customary for the large number of Oblates in Buffalo to maintain more than one house in this remote city of western New York.  For eight years, the St. Rose of Lima foundation maintained that important practice. The Oblates’ recent acceptance of pastoral responsibility for Annunciation parish (near Holy Angels) continues that long-standing custom.

Frs. Winter and Walsh were fêted at the noon Mass at St. Rose of Lima parish on Sunday, July 9th.  As part of the celebration, a commemorative plaque was installed in the church in gratitude for the years of our Oblate service. (Text and photos courtesy of Eugene Tremblay OMI)
