OBLATE ASSOCIATES

In order to live more intensely the mission of evangelization according to the Oblate charism, some lay people gather in associations.

In small communities of mutual support, Oblate Associates share prayer and their personal conversion

as they strive to live the charism of St. Eugene  de Mazenod in the different aspects of their daily lives

—family, school, business and politics—

by building relationships based on the dignity of each person and the love of God.

They consciously choose to care for the poor and the least among us through their individual and collective works of service.

What is expected of an Oblate Associate?

Oblate Associates are persons of good moral character in the community who commit themselves to deepen and live out their passion for “Christ, the Church and the Mission,” through:

Prayer and meditation::  Establish a practice of prayer and meditation that leads me to encounter God more deeply each day.

Apostolic work with the poor:  Perform a regular service that allows me to share God’s love with the poor and abandoned.

Community and faith sharing::  Create a regular time, place and routine for gatherings that will help us build community.

Study of the charism of St. Eugene and Oblate spirituality:   Learn more about the charism of St. Eugene de Mazenod and the Oblates.

An annual retreat:  Make an annual retreat, if possible at an Oblate renewal center.

(Optional, after a period of formation) Public commitment:  Encourage and support Oblate Associates who make a public commitment.
