The Oblate Affiliate program is a non-residential formation program designed for candidates who for some reason or another are not ready to commit themselves to live at a pre-novitiate house, yet seek a level of commitment and discernment that is deeper than the first steps of vocational discernment. Here, young men learn more about the Oblates Congregation while preparing to enter a residential formation house. The Affiliate Program has been conducted out of San Antonio, TX, for several years now. In the Fall we hope to also have Affiliates in Florida, Massachusetts, and Baja California. Directed by Fr. Leo Perez, OMI, there have been at least three Affiliates every year, and many of these men have gone on to enter the pre-novitiate houses in Buffalo, NY, and Miami, FL. Candidates must be at least a junior in High School, and not over 35 years of age. Activities include spiritual direction, apostolic activity, monthly meetings/retreats, participation in local OMI events, mission experiences, and visits to pre-novitiate houses.
