Celebrating Moms on Their Special Day

On Sunday, May 14, we celebrated our two beautiful annual Masses at Our Lady of Lourdes Grotto and Tepeyac de San Antonio to celebrate moms on their special day, as it has become a local tradition. Father Leo Perez, OMI celebrated the lovely Mass in English at 9 in the morning, and it was attended by hundreds of mothers, Oblates, and members of the community. This year we were blessed with beautiful weather too!
At 11:30 AM Father Saturnino Lajo, OMI celebrated the Spanish Mass in a style that is common among Hispanic festivities. Fr. Lajo honored both Our Lady of Lourdes and Our Lady of Guadalupe, and joined by mariachi, and matachines he placed a beautiful bouquet of roses at the altar. Near the end of the service, all mothers in attendance received a carnation flower, which which were later blessed by Fr. Lajo. This year we also had the privilege of receiving the company of some members of the local press, including San Antonio Express-News, who dedicated a nice report to us on their MySanAntonio website.
