Pictures and Text from Fr. Seamus Finn, OMI
“the ecological concern…This latter aspect is becoming more and more pronounced, as people begin to realize that there can be no genuine justice and peace in our world unless we begin to act as true stewards of creation, thus safeguarding the survival and integrity of our planet.”
~ Vade Mecum, 1997; Chapter One, General Council
Fall Harvest Feast: 39I Michigan Vegetable Garden – October 25, 2014
The pictures attached to this note say it all beautifully and thoroughly! The weather was perfect. We had about 65 people in attendance. We prayed and did a little Tai Chi. We feasted on a scrumptious four-course farm fresh vegan menu prepared by Tambra from NativeSol Kitchen, with a variety of libations.
We were blessed with a live jazz performance organized by Violet Marley that featured some familiar Bob Marley tunes as well as some original pieces from the performers themselves. (Info on their CD is available). Garlic was planted in abundance and some general preparations for winter were made easier by volunteering hands.
Thanks to Gail and her friends and colleagues and to our own George for his many contributions and to José Roberto Araújo da Silva OMI for his generous contributions to the Garden during the season and his logistics and personal support for the event on Saturday.
