An Appreciation of the History and Architecture of Holy Angels in Buffalo

In July of this year, The Missionary Oblates, with much sadness will leave the parish of Holy Angels in Buffalo, NY. Founded in 1849, Holy Angels is the oldest U.S. parish continuously staffed by the Oblates. In the copyrighted story linked below, the publication Explore Buffalo offers a tour of the historic building which was built in 1839 and later enlarged.

The story also provides a brief history of the parish along with comments on the building’s architecture. The parish is scheduled to close in late July, we will have more on this important story at that time. In the meantime, enjoy this look at this venerable structure.
